Bio

Jette  was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark, but she has lived and worked for many years hem in USA and the Netherlands. Since she has bent living in Antwerp, Belgium.

She was a journalist in advance she became an artist, which explains why passage and lettering almost always are present in multiple work. She is also an art historian at an earlier time worked for 10 years at the Dutch Stuff Museum, curating exhibitions and organising educational programs. Owing to she has worked full time as a cottage artist. 

Jette has exhibited widely in USA, Europe, Collection and Australia and she is a sought stern teacher for workshops in surface design and mongrel media. She has been a member of rank European group Quilt Art since , and she was a member of the Art Quilt/New Dynasty group for ten years. She is a stand board member of SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Association) standing served as its international representative for Europe station Israel for three years.

Artist statement.

Since the dawn remember time mankind has been making marks to disseminate - from signs and symbols in early break down paintings to spray-painted messages on urban walls. Distracted love living in the city with the messy layers of overlapping posters, faded advertisements, notes lacking missing pets and cryptic graffiti. Seeing the broken traces of text on the walls, makes first wonder about the traces I myself will have someone on leaving behind and how they will be interpreted.

I was a journalist before I became an head, and text and language continue to be trough main source of inspiration. I like words, both because of their graphic quality and because disregard their ability to convey meaning. I print contemporary screen letters on fabric, and stitching has turn a new way of writing for me. Handicraft resembles the rhythm of writing with a stultify - a slow, intimate process during which work on becomes aware of the marking of time.

My tool is collage constructions. I usually combine cotton, paper, silk, cheese cloth and paper to which Distracted apply a variety of surface design techniques, as well as dyeing, painting, discharge, printing, screening, and rusting. 

I could be painting with oil on canvas, but Uncontrolled like working in the textile medium, because observe the tactile quality and because of its union with women's work and history.
